Rowing in the Same Direction
David Jones, former Head of UK and Ireland Advisor Group, reflects on the parallels between rowing and investing, and how a committed crew can lead to better outcomes.
There's nothing I love better to, than getting up in the morning and going out
on the water and it's just so beautiful.
You're out
in nature, the, the river is like mirror smooth, maybe a little bit of mist
going across the surface.
You, you get in the boat, and everybody is just switched on, ready to go.
And then, if you are lucky, and everything clicks, that feeling that you get where
the whole crew is just absolutely committed 100% and the boat is flying, it sets
you up so well for the day
because the next thing that that happens is I'm gonna go to work and I'm,
and I'm coming to work and I'm feeling energized and excited.
I was an advisor for over 20 years, and so almost everything that we do
at Dimensional, very similar to rowing, is connected to a team of people connected by
a common goal, common purpose, common philosophy, all directed to the common goal, which is
to help people have, uh, a great experience and peace of mind in, in their
life.
