Museum of American Finance Honors David Booth with Financial Innovation Award
The Museum of American Finance (MoAF) presented David Booth, Founder and Chairman of Dimensional Fund Advisors, the largest active ETF issuer in the US, with the Museum’s 2026 Financial Innovation Award at its annual Gala on March 5 in New York.
The award recognizes Booth as an industry pioneer in applying financial theory to low-cost, systematic investment strategies and a leader in the creation of indexing and factor investing. Former US Senator Bill Bradley, a longtime friend, introduced Booth at the event. Bradley, a two-time NBA champion with the New York Knicks, is a consultant to Dimensional.
“I’m so pleased that David's being recognized with the Innovation Award because he's truly had an outsize impact on the financial industry and investors around the world,” Bradley said. “David’s led a life of purpose. And we’re all better for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to helping people.”
Forty-five years ago, after working on one of the first index funds, Booth set out to start Dimensional based on academic research and sensible ideas. The firm crossed $1 trillion (USD) in global assets under management in 2026.

Over the last decade, Booth has dedicated more of his time to helping people understand the science of investing so they can feel more empowered in their financial journey.
In 2025, Dimensional worked with Academy Award-winning director Errol Morris to create a documentary, Tune Out the Noise, which chronicles a group of academics mostly from the University of Chicago in the 1960s whose groundbreaking research challenged Wall Street’s status quo and was used by firms like Dimensional to disrupt traditional methods of investing.
Booth is the author of the new book Stay Calm: Learn to Embrace Uncertainty in Investing and Life, which will be published in September 2026. In the book, Booth details his work alongside academics, including Nobel laureates and colleagues to help to transform investing from a game of speculation into a discipline grounded in evidence, diversification, and long-term thinking.
“I grew up in Kansas with Depression-era parents,” Booth said. “Salt-of-the-earth folks who didn’t trust markets so never invested. I wrote Stay Calm because if more people understand how public markets really work, they’ll be more likely to invest and let markets work for them.”
As part of Booth’s broader philanthropic commitment to promoting financial literacy and education, he has provided financial support to the Museum of American Finance.
